From the moment we pulled into the Vasquez Rocks Natural Park we thought we had just landed on another planet. With it's huge rock formations and relatively secluded location, it's hard to imagine how the area was first discovered. Fortunately for us, it was only a short 1.5 hour drive north east of Los Angeles before we found ourselves at our photoshoot location.
They say the desert environment is one of the harshest in the world, but don't tell that to Mallory Suzanne. I already knew she was a pretty dedicated person because of how well she presented herself, but she's also willing to do anything for the right shot. In this set alone, she scaled up a 12 foot rock like it was nothing. Aside from the sun beating down on us from above and the wind forcing her hair in every direction imaginable, the shoot ended up being a complete success.
To be honest, we kind of did the entire shoot spur of the moment. She brought a suitcase full of random outfits and accessories and we connected on what we thought would look best on her in the muted-gold rocky setting with a bright blue cloudless sky. We ended up deciding on a gorgeous soft pink lace Lounge Underwear set because of how complimenting it was to the colors we'd be working with around her and it turned out to be perfect.
Once we started shooting I felt like the wind picked up which made things a bit more challenging, but it wasn't anything we were going to let hold us back. Mallory hit pose after pose as I moved from one place to another on the random rock surfaces around her. I knew when I got the photos onto my Mac I was going to have a tough time making selects. Luckily, for me, aside from color corrections these really didn't require too much else.
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the set. Feel free to leave a comment below letting me know which photos are your favorites!
